Exhaust headers are performance components that replace restrictive factory exhaust manifolds, helping your engine move exhaust gases out more efficiently. Instead of a bulky cast design, headers use individual tubes for each cylinder that merge into a collector, improving exhaust scavenging and overall engine performance.

As your engine runs, it produces exhaust pulses that travel through the system. Stock manifolds often create backpressure due to tight passages and uneven flow, which can limit power. Headers are designed to smooth out this flow by equalizing tube length and reducing restrictions, allowing gases to exit faster. This improves scavenging, where exiting gases help pull the next pulse out, leading to better horsepower, torque, and throttle response.

They use shorter primary tubes and typically bolt up to your stock mid-pipe location, making installation easier and more emissions-friendly in many cases. While they do improve exhaust flow, the gains are usually modest compared to longtube options.

LongTube Headers

Longtube headers feature extended primary tubes that allow exhaust gases more time to flow and scavenge efficiently before merging in the collector. This design significantly reduces backpressure and improves overall engine breathing, resulting in larger horsepower and torque gains. However, they often require a matching mid-pipe and can be more complex to install. Longtubes are best suited for performance-focused builds where maximum power is the goal.
