Which package is the right fit for my TRX?

We offer four performance packages to meet a variety of needs. Here’s an overview to help you choose the right one for your build:

DT797 Package (Base Package)
The DT797 is our most affordable option and the max boost you can run without upgrading injectors, which helps keep costs down. This package is simple to install, and many customers complete it themselves. Running on 91/93-octane fuel, it provides about 50 wheel horsepower over stock. If you’re starting on a budget, this is a great entry point for your build.

DT877 Package (Max Effort Pump Gas Package)
The DT877 is our max effort package for 91/93-octane fuel. It delivers the highest boost possible on pump gas but requires an injector upgrade to support the additional fuel demand. However, the injectors included in this package are not large enough to run Flex Fuel. This package provides about 100 wheel horsepower over stock and is perfect for those who want maximum pump gas performance without stepping up to Flex Fuel or E85.

DT937 Package (Flex Fuel Package)
The DT937 package is the next step up and designed for customers who want to run either 91/93-octane or E85 without needing to swap pullies or retune. It includes larger injectors and Flex Fuel tuning, making it a versatile choice for daily drivers. On 91/93-octane, it adds about 100 wheel horsepower over stock, and switching to E85 provides an additional 50 horsepower, for a total of 150 wheel horsepower over stock. While it doesn’t provide the full 200 wheel horsepower of a dedicated E85 setup, it’s an excellent option for those seeking flexibility and convenience.

DT997 Package (E85 Only Package)
The DT997 is our most powerful option, designed for those who want all-out performance. Running strictly on E85, this package delivers about 200 wheel horsepower over stock. If you need to switch to 91/93-octane, it will require a pulley swap and tune adjustment. This package is ideal for racers or weekend warriors looking for maximum power without sacrificing reliability.

Common Pump Gas Package Questions

What are the differences between the DT 797 and the DT 877?

Aside from the obvious horsepower difference, there are a few key distinctions between our DT797 and DT877 Power Packages. The DT877 is our max-effort pump gas package, featuring a smaller pulley than the DT797, along with upgraded fuel injectors for increased performance. It also includes a heavy-duty Gates belt designed specifically for the smaller pulley, whereas the DT797 pulley is compatible with the stock belt already on the vehicle.

Can I upgrade to Flex Fuel later?

Yes, absolutely! You can upgrade your truck to a higher package with a few part upgrades, such as a pulley and injectors, depending on your starting package. It will also need to be retuned. If you’re unsure which package is the best fit, starting with our DT937 Flex Fuel Package can save you money in the long run by eliminating the need for additional upgrades later.

Common Flex Fuel Package Questions

Can I run a mix of Pump Gas and E85, or do I need to choose one when filling up?

Yes, you can run a mix! With our DT937 Package we use something called “Inferred Flex” where use the sensors that already in the vehicle to calculate the fuel mixture in the onboard system to ensure that it is always producing as much power as possible while maintaining reliability. That said, the more E85 the more power the truck will produce. So if you want maximum power, we recommend running the tank as low as you are comfortable and then filling it with just E85. Many customers who don’t have any E85 in their area still get this package and when traveling to the track or when going off-roading they will fill it up with E85.

What is Inferred Flex Fuel and how does it work?

Inferred flex fuel allows a vehicle to automatically adjust for ethanol content without a physical ethanol sensor, using factory wideband oxygen sensors to infer the fuel’s stoichiometric ratio. When running E85, the ECU detects a lean condition and adjusts fueling to restore balance, learning the ethanol content based on fuel trim behavior. This tuning method is exclusive to wideband-equipped vehicles like Hellcats, ensuring safety and accuracy. It offers up to 50whp gains over pump gas setups with minimal modifications, providing the power benefits of E85 while retaining the convenience of pump gas. However, inferred flex is only recommended for stock engine and blower setups under 17 psi of boost to maintain reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions

How difficult is the installation?

We would consider the installation to be an intermediate-level job. If you have some mechanical aptitude and experience, the installation should be manageable. The main hurdle is removing the pulley and pulley hub from the supercharger and installing the new one that comes with each package. We highly recommend our Metco Pulley Tool Kit to make this process easier.
Installing the injectors is relatively straightforward—it requires removing four bolts on each side of the engine to take off the fuel rails, then simply popping in the new injectors and bolting everything back together.

How do I get my PCM unlocked and how long does it take?

Every Dusterhoff Racing Power Package includes PCM unlocking through HPTuners. Once you receive your RTD (Remote Tuning Device), simply plug it into the OBD port to read your truck’s stock file. After that, you’ll need to remove the PCM and send it to HPTuners for unlocking. The entire process takes about a week, including shipping, so be sure to plan ahead.

Do I have to get the TRX’s suspension recalibrated?

Yes, after unlocking the PCM, you’ll need to visit your local RAM dealer to have the suspension recalibrated. You can still drive the truck there—just ask the service department to perform the recalibration. In our experience, most customers haven’t been charged for this service, though it may vary by dealer. If there is a fee, it’s typically no more than an hour of labor. The process is quick and straightforward—they simply connect the truck to their system and recalibrate it in minutes.

Can you recalibrate the truck for larger wheels and tires?

Yes, we can do that when tuning the truck at no additional cost. Just make sure to put all of the updated wheel and tire information in the pre-tuning form that you fill out after purchasing the package.

How is the reliability and drivability?

We are yet to see any failures on a truck with just our package installed, outside of any manufacturer defects. When adding new parts or modifying the truck further make sure to reach out to see if you will need a tuning revision.

As far as drivability, around town the truck will drive the exact same as stock. When you get into the gas, that’s when you will notice the massive differences in performance.

What other mods would you recommend for my TRX?

You don’t need anything else with the package, as it comes with everything you need. That said, there are a few other mods that will help increase performance and help the longevity of your motor.
